ERIC R. OLIVIERI-BEAUCHAMP, EIT, MBA, JD

Eric Roberto Olivieri Beauchamp was born in San Juan, PR in 1956. His parents are Edgar Segundo Olivieri Cintrón, an engineer, and Jovina Josefa Beauchamp Hernández, a secretary and housewife. Born to a Christian family, Eric was raised in the Presbyterian Church in Caparra Terrace, where his parents were founding members. His early years were spent with his sisters and brother, Vilma, Aixa and Edgar Jr., him being the youngest. He studied his elementary school at the Rafael Hernandez Public School in Summit Hills. He then finished his Junior High and High School at the Wesleyan Academy, where he received a bilingual education. He graduated in 1974.

Eric left Puerto Rico to pursue a professional career in Engineering. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Southwestern University (1983). From his first marriage, Eric fathered Caridad Ivette and Cinthya. He returned to Puerto Rico searching for better opportunities in the land he loved with all his heart. He met Marisol Martinez Martinez in August, 1984 while working at Travenol. She was finalizing her studies as a K3 Teacher. They fell in love and married four months later. About a year and a half later, Fatima Providencia was born. Marisol and Eric were happily married for 21 years.

As part of his professional achievements, Eric Olivieri served as Operations QA Manager at Baxter Healthcare from 1989-1992 (Puerto Rico), Director of Operations at Stryker Endoscopy (1992-1993; California), Director of Regulatory Affairs/ Quality Assurance in Pilling Weck (1993-1995; North Carolina), a Medical device manufacturer/distributor of general surgical instruments and sterile disposable products, formerly a Bristol Myers Squibb Co., now a Teleflex Company. He was Site Quality Leader and Director of QA/QC/RC at Janssen Ortho LLC; a Johnson and Johnson Company; a solid dosage drug and controlled substance manufacturer/packager supporting over $4.5 billion dollars in annual sales (1995-2002; Puerto Rico). He obtained a Juris Doctor from LaSalle University School of Law in 1997 and a Master’s in Business Administration from LaSalle University School of Business Administration in 2000.

In 2002, Mr. Olivieri became PSGA Director of Compliance and Industry Liaison for Puerto Rico & Latin America in Pharmaceutical Sourcing Group Americas (PSGA). PSGA is a Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Sourcing Administration Group for the Americas, with manufacturing plants in various regions of Puerto Rico, New Jersey, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. At PSGA Mr. Olivieri was responsible for things such as initiating and supporting compliance initiatives in conjunction with the Quality Directors at each PSGA manufacturing site, maintaining a working relationship with the local district and regional FDA offices, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), (ASSMCA), as well as pharmaceutical industry groups such as PIA, AFDO, PRPQA, ISPE, etc.

In addition to his years of experience, Mr. Olivieri had a number of publications including “Maintenance of Surgical Instruments”, 1995, and is co-author of the “Reproducibility Study of the Dissolution Test of a Hard Gelatin Capsule Pharmaceutical Product”, 1999. Mr. Olivieri served two terms as President of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association of Puerto Rico (PIA) – QA Chapter (1999-2001), two-terms as Chairman of PIA, in conjunction to the San Juan FDA District and the Association of Food and Drug Officials for the industry-training program (1999-2001). He was an associate member of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), as well as a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) #2255061, among others. In 2003, he founded Regulatory Compliance Services (ReComS).

Six months shy of his 50th birthday, Eric Olivieri passed away due to cardiac complications. His love for Puerto Rico and for the pursuit of knowledge and education gained him three degrees, various certifications, multiple professional achievements and the respect of his friends and colleagues in his short time in this earth. Eric’s vision and legacy lives on in those who he inspired, mentored, and guided throughout both, his personal and professional achievements.
